X-Static | The Silver Fiber
X-static, the silver fiber

X-STATIC® - The Silver Fiber®, is a performance textile fiber that has a layer of pure silver permanently bonded to the surface of the fiber.  The process is such that the fiber, with its silver layer, retains traditional textile and tactile odor properties of x-staticcharacteristics.  It can be used in knits, wovens, and non-wovens as either a filament or spun yarn.
X-STATIC® offers all of the benefits known to be inherent to pure silver, only in a new format---a textile fiber.

The Silver Story
The use of silver for its medical and therapeutic benefits dates back thousands of years.  In fact, the Romans were the first to publish and document the "magical healing" powers of silver when used to cover wounds.  In addition, Cyrus the Great, in the 5th century BC, would only let his troops go to war if they carried water in silver vessels — something he knew would keep the water supply clean and safe.

Roman intuition proved to be correct.  Modern Western medicine recognizes silver as the most effective antimicrobial agent, natural or otherwise.  At the turn of the century, silver was actually considered the first antibiotic—silver foil was used as a wound dressing.  Today, silver is used for its broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties in healthcare products, ranging from bandages to burn care treatments to catheters—almost any product where infection control is critical.  The majority of American are first exposed to silver at birth, when silver nitrate eye drops are used to prevent infection.  Silver is also widely used for industrial applications (i.e. drinking water filters, swimming pool filtration systems, etc.) and by the Department of Defense.

Understanding Silver Technology:

  • Reflectivity:  Silver has an Infrared (IR) Reflectivity rating of greater than 95%, the highest of any element, which means that 95% of the radiactive energy that contacts silver will be reflected back to its source.  This is important in minimizing heat loss.
  • Emissivity:  Silver has one of the lowest emissivity ratings of any element, which means that it radiates thermal energy very slowly.  And, it will remain warm for a very long period of time.
  • Anti-static
    Conductivity:
  • Silver is the most thermally conductive element on the planet.  Therefore, it quickly and evenly distributes and transfers heat throughout a textile product.
  • Silver is also the most electrically conductive element.  Therefore, electrical charges created by two non-conductive materials rubbing together are instantly dissipated by the presence of silver.
  • Antimicrobial:  Silver is recognized in the medical community as the most effective antimicrobial agent available.  X-STATIC® eliminates 99.9% of bacteria in less than one hour of exposure. The hotter and wetter the environment, the more effective X-STATIC® becomes.
  • Anti-odor Performance:  Bacteria are only one cause of body odor.  Ammonia and denatured proteins are also contributors to odor.  Both ammonia and denatured proteins bind most readily to silver.

Benefits of X-STATIC®, The Silver Fiber®:

    Warm-cold properties of x-static
  • Regulates TemperatureX-STATIC® has the best thermodynamic properties, allowing the body to stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
  • Moisture Transport:  X-STATIC® accelerates the movement of moisture through evaporation, minimizing moisture contact with the skin, which allows for increased comfort in warm weather.
  • Anti-Odor:  X-STATIC® uses pure silver to inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria and fungi in textile products.
  • Anti-static:  X-STATIC®, which is coated with pure silver, conducts electricity extremely efficiently.  Just a small quantity of X-STATIC® in apparel or socks will allow products to stay comfortably static-free.
  • Therapeutic:  Because of its conductive quality, X-STATIC® has many health benefits, including: increased circulation, reduction of swelling, and minimized fatigue and discomfort.
  • Natural: X-STATIC® is made with pure silver and contains no chemicals or pesticides.  It is safe for people and the environment.
  • Permanent:  Silver is permanently and irreversibly bonded to a fiber to create X-STATIC®.  It will not wash off, and lasts the life of the product.
  • Proven:  X-STATIC® has been researched and tested for more than 10 years by leading institutions around the world and is widely accepted in the medical, defense, and high tech industries.  X-STATIC® is currently used in many FDA approved products, and is also registered as an antimicrobial with the EPA.

Testimonials:

  • "What a product!!!  I wore the same pair of socks for 12 days in a row.  I took the tee shirt, wore it for a week.  I worked in the OR, and did PT daily in the same tee shirt, and it did not smell funky even once.  I can't believe that they are not STANDARD ISSUE for all troops.  THESE PRODUCTS ARE INCREDIBLE!!!"

Major Randall Hoeppner, 1st FST/28th Combat Support Hospital, Bagdad

  • "The t-shirt works even better than the socks.  I wouldn't have believed, couldn't have believed it, if I hadn't tested it for myself.  We need this product now."

Sgt. Major House, US Army Infantry School

  • "Before we deployed, we were each issued 4 pairs of your socks and they have been absolutely great.  In over 21 years of Army service, these have got to be the best piece of equipment ever issued.  Your socks make life a little easier around here.  Thanks for everything!"
  • Sgt. Major Dan Rupp, CJTF76, CJ3 Bagram, Afghanistan
